Auto Circumcision: The Act of Faking Being Circumcised

Just when you think you've heard it all, you learn something new about the desirability of circumcision. Turns out that there are lots of males out there who wish they were circumcised but weren't. But instead of getting their filthy foreskins snipped, they retract their skin and leave it retracted all the time. WTF!

Apparently so many dudes do this that it's got a name: auto circumcision. Here's the definition of that in the Urban Dictionary: "the act of retracting the foreskin of the penis and keeping it retracted all the time so it appears to others to be circumcised; auto circumcision is popular among circumcision fetishists, especially some gays, who believe the circumcised penis is the most attractive; a dude who is auto circumcised looks cut to the casual observer in the locker room but still has his foreskin."

Does anyone know anyone who pretends to be circumcised? Can you tell the difference? And why would someone do this? Seems to me the answer is obvious. It's better to be circumcised! It's better to feel circumcised! It's better to look circumcised! In short, auto circumcision is the best proof ever that uncircumcised dudes wish they had had parents who would have done it right at birth. What do you think?

  1. Yes it's quite common. I am in Australia and uncircumcised, and I did it at school and even to this day in public showers!

Appart from wanting it to look 'bigger and better', it also makes sense from a hygiene point of view to keep the foreskin back as much as possible, especially when showering.

And I am certainly not the only one to do it!

It sure would have been easier if I'd been circumcised at birth though!

  2. hi, im in australia too, and before my circumcision at 18 i wore the skin back for 2 years.

i did it because i really didnt like the skin and i am so glad i made the decision to have it cut. i would recomend it to anyone, adult, parents, everyone with a foreskin.

i can totally understand why men wear it back, but they need to take the leap and have the circumcision. i think its wrong to leave your son uncircumcised, so i guess it is a bit sad for these men.

    1. No, what's really wrong is to mutilate someone's body without their permission. It's especially heinous because they can never repair the damage.
It's also hypocritical of women to claim bodily integrity yet not extend that idea to their son's body.

    2. I agree with you. I'm not circumcised and it should be the decision of the son to be or not. I do auto-circumcision but it's for sensitivity. Not for looks or trying to look like I am. I'm glad I was not but strange thing is out of 5 boys. I was the only one to not be. My dad said he didn't want it done on me. If I had a son,he wouldn't be either.

  3. When I was young, it was difficult to get a circ on demand. So I kept my foreskin permanently retracted as the next best thing. But I was very relieved when at last I got cut.

Retraction should only ever be a stage on the way to full circumcision. It is much better to make the glans exposure irrevokably permanent with a good tight cut.

    1. sometimes its nice to have a break from being circumcised and enjoy your foreskin for a while before slinning back for ages and ages, you can only do this by not getting the surgery and just skinning back with a ring and condom or something

  4. Your three correspondents are exceptional. The main reason intact men wear their foreskins back is that they live in circumcised communities that demonise the foreskin and would bully them if they knew they were intact. (Or like one man I met who said his mother had told him if he didn't keep it back, it'd be cut off.) Nothing to be proud of. I bet it's virtually unknown where circumcision hasn't taken hold, like Scandinavia, except among the crowd who are into piercings and the like.

What it really illustrates is that NOT circumcising gives men the option. Forward or back - HIS choice.

  6. Thanks for all the good comments. Hugh7, I would bet that there are plenty of Scandinavians who like the look and feel of a clean-cut penis, so don't be surprised if many go for auto circumcision in those countries. Anon, I agree with you that the best reason to circumcise is medical, and there are plenty of sound health reasons to circumcise at birth and beyond. But, let's face it, the clean-cut penis IS a "fuckin' fashion accessory" (as you crudely put it) to many people. Women like the looks of it, and men, too. I wonder if skinning back the foreskin permanently, however, gives you any health benefits as opposed to the more permanent circumcision. Does anyone know?

  7. there you go again hugh!

anecdotes and little stories that may or may not have happened! typical of no-circ!!

no-circ uses these kinds of 'stories', in utmost desparation, as the glue between its flimsy studies.

because thats all no-circ is, convienient testomony, flimsy studies and sheer desperation.

  8. Yeah interesting point, PD.

I think you would at least get some of the medical/hygiene benefits in terms of 'skinning back', but yes, utlimately you would think to get the full benefits, only a full circumcision would do.

Hugh has lost the plot. The foreskin is totally redunant, and in too many cases, potentially harmful.

It's 2009 - no boy should have to keep it.

  9. I'm a 19 year old uncircumcised guy in California, and I wish my parents had me circumcised at birth or when I was little.

Even though I have a short foreskin (which can either look like a low circumcision or partial circumcision), the foreskin is like a really uncomfortable piece of clothing that you can't take off. No matter how much you tug and pull at it.

The foreskin is just extra skin that's redundant and should be trimmed. If I have a son, I will definately have him circumcised.

  10. Hi Anon3 (the uncircd dude from California)! Hey, you can have your wish because it's not difficult to get circumcised at 19. Lots of dudes do it, and there are plenty of people to help you. Thanks for your comments, too. I like how you put it: "the foreskin is like a really uncomfortable piece of clothing that you can't take off . . . redundant and should be trimmed." So true, and it's never too late, dude.

And, if you read some of my earlier posts like the one on Father's Day, you know that I reserve the highest praise to dads like the one you want to be -- uncircumcised fathers who circumcise their sons! Good luck, man. Let us know how we can help you.

    2. Fathers who have their baby sons routinely circumcised should be prosecuted for gross violation of the human rights of a helpless little boy. Being turned into a prepuce amputee without your owo informed consent is a transgression of the code of human rights of the UN.
Routine baby boy circumcision is rapidly declining as people are aware of the negatives of being circumcised, including the right to an intact body.

  11. I've thought about it for a while, but it's just that circumcision seems best when done as a baby or in childhood when it's more convenient.

I've heard that adult circumcisions are more expensive (on family's insurance without having them knowing), with the stitches that means no erections and sex for a month or so, and I get around a lot than to wait for it to heal.

When done as a baby or child, a boy doesn't have to worry about all that.

And the circumcised penis with the head fully exposed just looks more beautiful. Most girls and women prefer it too. Looking back when I was little, I think that no boy should have to grow up with an elephant trunk. I would want to look different than an animal.

It's just something I've been contemplating to get circumcised in the future a few years from now. But if I have a son, he will be circumcised.

  12. So a story I heard from a man himself when I asked why he wore his foreskin back is a "little story that may not have happend" but PD's wild speculation about the men of Scandinavia, based on no facts at all, is to be accepted as fact?

It really wouldn't matter if every intact man in the world chose to keep his foreskin back ("auto-circumcision" is a really bad word for it), they would still have all the nerves, all the function and it would be their choice. This actually has nothing to do with circumcision, let alone infant circumcision.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks for all the good comments -- even yours, Hugh7. I like hearing from the anti-circ foreskin lovers because you get a good insight into their flawed thinking. Hugh7 says auto circumcision has "nothing to do with circumcision." Dude, it's clear. If someone wants to skin back his foreskin ALL THE TIME so his clean-cut cock is revealed, I think that's a pretty obvious preference for circumcision, don't you?

As for Anon3, the California dude who wants to be cut, I can understand your concern about costing your parents' insurance, plus they would know about it which you might not be comfortable with because they failed to circumcise you at birth. Here are my thoughts on that.

First, don't blame your parents. Lots of parents in the 1980s were fooled by the anti-circs and the wishy-washy medical community. If they're good parents, they undertand that medical science advances and we now know the health advantages of getting rid of a filthy foreskin.

Second, your insurance will cover you if a doctor orders it -- and lots of doctors will for all the obvious reasons. So check it out.

Third, those who get cut as adults say it's not bad at all and sex is not delayed that long anyways. Plus it's a whole lot better after that 4 to 6 week wait, so it's worth it. And, as you said, a circumcised penis is beautiful and most women and girls prefer it. There are lots of dudes circumcised as adults who will help you. Let me know if you want that help. Good luck!

    1. Why do you keep calling it a "filthy foreskin"? That makes about as much sense as calling the clitoral hood, or the labia minora "filthy". They're only filthy if you have poor personal hygiene!

I honestly don't think you need to be so militant about foreskins...

    3. I keep mine back because it stays cleaner. I also dont have to always retract to take a piss. I thought about gettin cut years ago. Then stumbled upon a site of botched circumcisions. Who wants a scarred up cock an skin bridges? Whats so great about being circ'd? It doesnt help prevent you from getting HIV. The USA has the highest circ rate and the highest rate of HIV.... ive been with a few women who said they had never orgasmed til they had sex with me.. every other guy was cut that shed been with... lots of men that are cut are doin stretch techniques to re grow and restore their foreskin... lastly the forskin aint filthy. Its meant to be there. Use some dove soap an your all good n clean....

      Delete
    4. If you think foreskin are "filthy you must be picking up the wrong guys at the bus station.
I've never seen a "filthy" one. It takes a few seconds to clean it when you shower.
For the persons who think it's "redundant" no it isn't. It's Mucosal tissue which secretes the lubricant when you have sex. The secretion (smegma which means Soap in Greek) keeps the glans from drying out and getting a callous on it. You can see the difference in the color of the glans between the two conditions.

  14. "If someone wants to skin back his foreskin ALL THE TIME so his clean-cut [sic] cock is revealed, I think that's a pretty obvious preference for circumcision, don't you?"
    No, because:
    1. He still has all the nerves
    2. He still has the option if he changes his mind
    3. It can still roll forward and back during intercourse and masturbation

If keeping your foreskin back is just as "good" as circumcision, why circumcise?

And if it is a preference for circumcision, it's still a tiny minority preference. By your own logic, most intact guys are voting for intactness with their foreskins!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I asked my doctor if I could be circumcised at 19. Sure, I grew up being incredibly self-conscious of my foreskin and quite frankly hated it. I also had a tight frenulum, which made masturbation uncomfortable. So, I asked my doctor, who referred me to a urologist.
I told my parents, as I was convered on their insurance, and my parents didn't care one bit. If anything my mom felt a little remose for not circumcising me when I was born.
To say you don't want to be circumcised because you can't jerk off/have sex for 4-6 weeks is beyond retarded. You're making a life improving choice. It's worth the tiny wait. Me being circumcised improved my self-image, gave me the opportunity to enjoy orgasms and sex the way every male should, and made me feel normal. That might be bullshit to the anti-circ feminazis, but I loved the change and would NEVER go back.
When my wife was pregnant with my son, I knew I would want him circumicised right after birth- and he was.
What boggles my mind is how many friends are pregnant/wives are pregnant and are unsure as to whether to circumcise, even if their husbands are cut.
19 in Cali- just do it. Your doctor will likely make it work so that insurance covers it, and your parents most likely won't care or will even be remorseful (as mine were) they hadn't circ'ed you. You will be so much happier- and your woman will be to.
(BTW- research conclusively shows American woman are much more likely to engage in oral sex with a circ'ed man than one with a foreskin)

  16. A tiny nick to the frenulum (frenuloplasty) would have solved Anonymous' masturbation problem. It often resolves itself with a little tear.

Circumcision was HIS CHOICE. Fine. All Intactivists are asking is that every male should have the same choice.

But his self-consciousness about his foreskin derives ENTIRELY from living in a circumcising culture. With the US national rate now little over 50%, that will be a thing of the past to the generation growing up. If anything, it is the circumcised boys who may feel self-conscious from now on, and what can they do about that? (Well, restore their foreskins...)

  17. The following seems strange: "Turns out that there are lots of males out there who wish they were circumcised but weren't. But instead of getting their filthy foreskins snipped, they retract their skin and leave it retracted all the time. WTF!"

Why are you presuming that they do not keep their foreskins clean? Is the very idea of a foreskin inherently disgusting to you, "Provoking Debate". That's a fairly strange position. I think that you may have an issue with the prepuce which is transcendent beyond the medical, judging from this. You truly believe that it is impossible for a foreskin to be clean?

As for your contention, the extension of a practice you have no evidence is common into a universal principle which applies for all of the intact is simply unfounded logically.

  19. If you remove all your teeth, you will never get a cavity, although I think we can all agree that brushing will suffice. I am not circumcised, and I would not circumcise my child because it is mutilation. You were born with it for a reason. I am sure alot of people could care less either way, but it is unfair to remove part of your child's body without asking them. Would you give your daughter breast implants at birth because it looks better? Not bloody likely. And for the record, sex feels better for girls with an uncircumcised penis, ask them.

  20. Circumcision is the biggest waste of money on the UK NHS! Its totally unnecessary. Unless its going to cause you MAJOR health problems then leave it. Cleaner my arse! Why do you think you shower... As for those who think its neat is it what! When you are 30 odd and trying to have it with your wife (or Boyfriend/ civil partner Being nice to all here :D) and don't feel much then that's your fault or parents fault for MUTATING you. You wouldn't hack of your own nose because you wont get a cold and it looks better. Its totally STUPID! This whole Blog's just a HUGE joke. An argument to a problem that should never exist!

  21. Wow, it really sounds like the author and some of the posters have circ fetishes!! Not a normal position at all!! The instance of complications with infant circs is quite high, 10% just for meteal stenosis alone... Urologists get 25% of their professional clients from people who need their circs fixed! All unneccessary procedures. You were born with this peice of skin, so why would anyone feel more "normal" having half their dick skin cut off?? I'm glad I left my son intact. That way he has a choice on what kind of cock to live with. And if he does have complications with his circ as an adult, he can sue the Doc who did it.. unlike if he had it as a baby, and the Doc cut off too much skin he'd never be able to find the bastard who messed up his dick!

I think you are a staunch circ supporter for a reason. Maybe you have Daddy issues, and your Daddy was uncut and made you blow him or something. I don't know. But, why project your opinion onto other innocent children who have the right to their own opinions/ideas??

  22. I wear my foreskin back. It's true, that I do like the LOOK of a circumcised penis.

I do not, however want to LOSE my foreskin! The greatest pleasure I feel during sex is the womans pussy pushing my foreskin over itself. So intimate, so erotic ... I would not lose my foreskin for the world.

I do understand though why people think circumcised looks better. I also love the feeling of my bare glans rubbing on my pants.

I have the best of both worlds. Circumcised look, intact feeling, with the option to look intact too if for whatever reason I choose to do so.

I will not be putting my children through irreversible surgery, I will however be encouraging them to wear their foreskins back.

  24. is there any problem in keeping foreskin rolled back behind the glans...?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah - and I must say many of the comments here are really great.

I kept my foreskin retracted for about six or seven months. Why did I do it? (and someone mentioned this above): Because I felt pressured to do so. I am 21 and from the midwest. Most guys are cut and to be uncut is very taboo. I went through about five or six years of intense debate over wanting to get circd, not wanting it...back and forth for years. At the highest point (a few months ago), after contacting a doctor in Florida, I went through a mental re-evaluation and honestly WOKE THE FUCK UP!

I am so glad that my parents never cut me. After keeping the skin pulled back during those months, I loved feeling like my peers, but more than that I loved still having the mobility of skin, the nerves, etc. I DID IT SOLELY TO FIT IN.

Now, I have sex with cut guys and can't help but think how sad for them that they have a penis that can do so little compared to mine. I know they can't help it, but subconsciously I can't help but feel bad for them.

While I love the look of a cut penis AND love the look of an uncut one, I clearly prefer the function of an uncut one.

So there's your answer. Is men choosing auto circumcision a justification for circumcision. Nope! Sorry, but actually quite the opposite. Auto circd men support being intact, because being intact, you can choose how to carry your penis a number of ways, choose a number of functions, and the best part: change these preferences over time!

I wrote an article on circumcision which I posted on another post from this blog. I really don't mean to attack the core of this blog's philosophy, but unfortunately it's just not right to support this thing. If people want to choose to individually go against logic, that's fine. But we ought not pass falsities off as truth in order to justify our own shortcomings when it comes to ... the southern regions.

Hi, im 18 yrs old, when i was 13 yrs old i started masturbating, after some time when i used to masturbate my skin moved back and the head started to come out it was really uncomfortable as a kid ( the skin being sensitive) i didnt know it was suppose to be like that ( wtf i know) so i kept pulling my skin front after some time i masturbated without the skin coming back ( head is not exposed), recently i noticed that the skin is suppose to be back but now it was hard for me to pull it back but i did it again and again in shower until the skin started coming backwards but it will not come up when it is below the head ,, so i had to pull it up , it was really very frustating and painful , but now i have just left it like that and its feels better and saves me hell lot of pain.
So in my opinion if u are suffering from any pain and getting your skin back up or anything u should leave it like that ( auto-circumsized)

  27. Interesting read! To put another slant on it, I'm uncircumcised. Whilst I'm still fully intact, I love to push it back and leave it that way. I kinda like the fact that, after a couple of days with it back, the head somehow loses sensation - I find that a good thing for me. Like another guy, I love the feeling of it rubbing against my boxers. Only trouble is, it won't stay that way. and I'm forever having to push it back.
I've thought of being cut but I couldn't justify the cost. Recently I've told my wife how I keep it back all the time and have started making sure I push it back fully before "going in". She's said a couple of times that I should get it done but I don'y really know whether she means it. By the way, I'm 60.

She talked about other boyfriends she had who were cut and how taut and sexy they looked. From then on I wore my foreshin back and after a few weeks it mostly stayed back and felt great rubbing on my pants, the girlfriend liked it but still wanted to have me 'done'.I have kept it skinned back all this time and do not get an bad smells from smegma either. Now my wife likes to feel and see my flared glans through my pants and said she is not worried if I get cut or not and she offered to get the scissors out!

  29. I have kind of an odd perspective on this, because I suffered from a condition called phimosis, where the foreskin is so tight that it cannot be pulled back over the head of the penis. I used to kind of wish I'd been circumcised, however after stretching it every day it gradually became looser until it became normal. When I first managed to pull my skin back, my bell-end was SO madly sensitive it was uncomfortable to touch it, but after a while it became desensitised more and more - it became much more pleasurable to rub the bare glans, though the sensitivity did decrease further. So while initially I thought "OMG how can cut guys stand this!?" I then came to realise a bare glans feels wonderful - as others have mentioned - rubbing against underwear. It's interesting to wear different materials too - the soft caress of fine cotton, or the boner-inducing roughness of going commando in tight jeans. For this reason and because I find the naked glans aesthetically superior, I wear my skin back. But would I have the snip? Never. I'm eternally glad I kept the phimosis to myself and researched how to fix it myself instead of submitting to a doctor's referral to be mutilated. There are just too many nerves and too much feeling in the skin to throw away.

I should add that I have never had a problem with smegma or odour, even before I wore the foreskin pulled back. A shower and some soap is all that is needed, and I have never had a complaint about a bad smell or taste. I'm guessing girls who find foreskins disgusting have probably experienced or heard gossip about uncut guys with cheesy dicks. Yes there will be guys who don't keep it clean, just as there are people who don't keep their nails trimmed or their teeth clean or walk around with crusties in their eyes. It's just a matter of personal hygiene.

Course if a man wishes to alter his body to make himself feel better, he should have that choice. But then if he's been cut as a baby he has no choice - he can't very well have a foreskin grafted on if he decides he wants one.

    ReplyDelete

I am proud and I admit I still think about getting cut for religious reasons but the more people I hear from including doctors all say sex aint the same and your losing 2,000 or more nerves and the possiblity of something going wrong

  41. yeah, I used to keep the foreskin back in Jr. High and High school and college. Loved the feeling of the bare knob and wished my parents had me cut when I was a baby. I wanted to be cut, and almost did the deed myself a couple of times (if I'd had the Internet when I was a kid, I probably would have circ'd myself; it's fairly easy). Finally got circ'd as an adult, and was amazed at how 'painless' it was. Nothing like my doc's described. Anyway, no more nasty foreskin.

  42. Circumcision on a baby is mutilation. It should be a man's choice.

I wear it back all the time because a buddy of mine suggested I do it to cure my extreme hypersensitivity. He had the same problem. And it has worked for me.

Now I have all my nerves intact, I get more BJs anytime of the day, because I don't ever have smegma and if I want to I can pull my foreskin back forward to maintain my sensitivity throughout my life.

My girlfriend says my uncircumcised penises feel better than circumcised and is happy with me. Circed penises pull all the lube out and thats crappy she says.

So I would say the foreskin is very important. Its important for sex. Which is, all things considered, the most important thing, don't you think?

  44. My mother also pulled my foreskin back when I was about 7 and told me to leave it there. It was so sensitive and distracted me for a while, but it didn't last long. My mum used to make sure it was back when i bathed every day. basically it began to feel normal and i forgot about it. Sometimes while i was still small i used to pull it forward to cover the tip sometimes, but it would feel strange by then (not used to it i guess) and i would pull it back again. Once i went through puberty and my penis grew the foreskin seemed to stay small, now i am unable to cover the tip of my penis with my foreskin and it remains uncovered all the time. I do not have enough skin to cover it, only about 1/3 of the way and it rolls straight back again if i do try to cover it.

I either have very little foreskin or I have outgrown it (if that is possible) but I look circumcised all the time and the only time I see my foreskin is when I am shrivelled up due to cold weather or whatever. Pals in the pub and elsewhere tend to think I am circumcised if they spot me in the loo and I explain the situation as above.

  50. Circumcision must be mandatory because this procedure leads to transformation of glans' cylindric epithelium to plane. Such cancerogenenous viruses as papillomavirus can't persist on plane epithelium hence males never have cancer of penis and their women never have cancer of uterus colli. Now there are information about papillomavirus is a cause of many other cancers such as in prostate, anus, etc.

    1. you just said a pile of fancy words that can be summarised into one sentence "circumcision will prevent cancer". Which in one sense is true and in another is not. Fore example if you have no foreskin your chances of getting cancer on your foreskin is pretty god damn low isn't it? Cancer is not contagious, having sex with a woman will not give her cancer. for something to be mandatory everyone must agree. 1/5 of the world circumcises on a regular basis America has the highest rate of circumcision, ironically it has the highest rate of Aids in the first world also. Prostate cancer is not caused by having a foreskin. It is caused simply by poor treatment of the prostate. many men are recommended to get their prostate checked between ages 35 to 45 as these are the highest rate for ages with prostrate problems. Kind of like breast cancer it's common like that. Yet i don't see anyone removing a baby girls breasts now do i? The uterus is not fundamentally connected to the foreskin. Though the frenulem is attached to the penis tip, in no way is it attached to the uterus. If you get cancer in your pee hole, its doubtful it's because you had a foreskin. You also stated cancer is a virus, i repeat it is a disease, there is a difference. The information you gave is biased entirely showing no benefits to the foreskin whatsoever. Stop brainwashing over concerned young adults.

  53. you people really need to research the benefits of the foreskin, it's not just a piece of skin it has a valid function and is considered to be the eyelid of your dick. I am in no way exaggerating when i say that either. You have it like a woman has a clitoris for pleasure it's your clitoris, a man clitoris if you will the penis tip is just like the inside of a woman's vagina, soft weak, easily torn and ripped and it needs to be cleaned and taken care off that is what your penis tip is that is why it is so important to take care of it.

From the day on my foreskin was permanently retracted until a few years ago, when I was 47, I got rid of my foreskin. In the Netherlands circumcision is uncommon and I thought that only jewish and muslim boys were circumcised but through the internet I learned that you could be circumcised if you prefere to be so and I also learned that in the Netherlands there are specilised circumcision clinics to have it done. I wish I had known that much earlier, for I am very pleased to be circumcised now.

  55. 31 year old father of four boys, uncut... and i have been keeping the foreskin retracted now since i was 13. my reason for starting this was a bad smell i got from the "smegma" even washing twice daily did not get rid of the smell. then one day a vrey strange thing happened when swimming. i was jumping from a bridge maybe 25 feet up into the local river. i got a tingleing sensation and an immediate errection.on further investigation at home a few hours later in the shower i found the foreskin had gone back behind the glans, i had noticed whilst watching TV that i did not smell tonight. i pulled it back to its normal position. the following morning the smell was back. i showered and decided to pull back the skin to the point it went to on its own the day before and went swimming again with my friends. i did like the way it felt and looked in my shorts. so took the decision that was how it would stay. never had the smell since.

my sons have always tried to keep their skins retracted from an early age, i did give them the coice and also gave them the benefits. so they did make the decision themselves. the youngest 4 starts school in september and has just ben for the medical the nurse was convinced he had been circumsised, untill he showed her that the skin would go back. none of the boys skins will fully cover the head, not sure if this is because of keeping the skin retracted or not. but they all like the way it looks and feels.

i see no reason for a medical procedure to have the skin removed if practice keeping it retracted has the same result. plus you do have the choice later in life if you want the skin back or not.

  56. I keep my foreskin retracted, and have done for many years. I simply like the look and feel of the exposed glans. Certainly the glans has got bigger as result of not being confined by the foreskin.

Loads of guys have foreskins that retract on their own, leaving a exposed glans, just as loads of guys have very long foreskins with an overhang of an inch or more. So to say a foreskin 'ought' to do this or that is not really helpful.

    1. The wearing of intact foreskin retracted happens all over the world even partly accidentally. There are cultures as some in Japan where it is expected to be the norm in adulthood- and it does look more adult.

There should be more promotion and understanding and acceptance of this practice.

    2. I availed myself of auto-circumcision for about a third of my adult life and it served me well.

Upon encountering this site it was at first dismayed at the statement that it was being done as "faking circumcision" but on rethinking it can consider that as a very complementary description for it does a very good job of providing all of the benefits of circumcision without necessitating surgery. It can often only be told from a circ by very close examination. It does provide the same type of view of the penis as the circumsised, can pass the casual siting as a circed penis. It does provide the aeration of the glans area to help easy cleanliness. It is copes as well with stock useage of the standup urinal followed by no further cleaning or blotting as a circ.
In addition to the view that it presents it also imparts the ability to directly feel the glans itself when reaching down there. It also provides the extra sensations when clothing touches the bare glans. It eliminates smegma and the odor from urine that gets retained in a forward foreskin.
If you read forums with questions by teen makes you will note that many of the queries are about real problems with the uncircumcised penis, foreskin related.

If auto-circ gets called faking circumcision it does it well enough to confer all the benefits and should be "advertised" to a wider audience.

  59. Foreskin is important erogenous tissue that protects the inner foreskin and glans, provides comfort, provides a gliding action during intercourse, and contains thousands of very sensitive, pleasure producing nerves. Circumcision exposes the glans and inner foreskin (which are mucuous membrane) to air and abrasion, causing the layer of keratin to deepen significantly. This process continues throughout a man's lifetime, further desensitizing the penis. The following structures are completely lost to circumcision: the ridged band, most or all of the frenulum, most of the inner foreskin, and more than half of the penile skin. Circumcision explains the problems of discomfort, dryness, skin tears, uncomfortable erections, and lack of proper sexual function that circumcised men experience; some more than others, depending on how much skin was cut off by the butcher. Genital cutting is mutilation and a violation of basic human rights and medical ethics. Keep your baby boys intact and whole as nature intended.

Even oral sex is more comfortable and less abraisive with intact men because the contact will be mucuous membrane against mucous membrane rather than dry, rough, keratinized skin against mucuous membrane; hence a lower chance of getting sore or minor tears.

The foreskin allows men to masturbate with their own skin without the necessity of using lube. All male species are born with a foreskin. The glans and inner foreskin are internal organs that are meant to remain smooth and moist (just like our eyelids and gums in our mouth) and protected by the foreskin.

    1. I was raised in the 50s and 60s and never told anything about retraction or circumcision. The young people now have so much information on the internet that we didn't have back then. I was not circumcised and told nothing about cleaning it. We had no indoor plumbing not much privacy. My foreskin would get stinky and sore. Most of the boys in school were circumcised. I found out that if I retracted the skin it stayed a lot cleaner and didn't stink and get sore. I didn't know if this was bad or harmful so I would let it cover or it would often cover by itself in a short time. I later learned that by turning the skin in under itself, it would stay back a lot better,so I started doint that and going bare as much as possible. This worked out fairly well but in hot weather it would sweat up and slide over the head and get sore. I had a very long elefant trunk foreskin which was difficult to keep behind the head. After years of keeping it retracted I was hoping it would shorten but it never did. Young boys should get information on this so they can start early before puberty and then it will stay back better as the skin will not grow as long. At age 32 I got a circumcision when I needed another surgery. What a releif! I am now 64 and have no regrets but wish I had been told about keeping retrated before puberty. Then there would have been no need for getting cut. It is so much cleaner and better with a bare head.

  60. I'm Mark from the Netherlands and wore my foreskin retracted since I was 13yo. A friend of mine showed me how to do it and why it was good. He still had a tight foreskin and was advised to retract it as much and far as possible to prevent circumcision. Mine was quite tight too at that time so I did the same. When I was 17 yo I wanted to make it permanent and asked my PD for a circumcision. He was very pro-circ so within 2 months I was rid of my (now fully retractible) foreskin. So much the better and I never regretted it.

  61. Hi Guys. iam from the UK where you dont see a huge amount of circumcision, some religious groups or for a medical reason. when i was 12 i had been getting problems with the build up of smegma, even showering twice a day would not keep it away, now i dont know if you would call it good luck or bad luck but whilst jumping large waves that year on holiday i suffered an accident. the frenulum got torn byt thforce of the water entering the end of the foreskin.it hurt like hell and in the water i noticed blood coming from the injury. i did not want to admit this to my parents as they had advised me not to go swimming that day. so i stayed inthe water until the bleeding stopped. i did not really know what the damage was at first but when i got home that evening i had a good look in the shower. it had torn in 2 places and left the forskin fully retracted. i did wonder why i was erect the whole way home. it must have been the head of my penis rubbing inside my speedos. it still hurt but not so bad. i thought at the time it did look neater so i decided to leave the skin in there fully retracted. my parents found out eventually i think about 3 years later on holiday my younger brother walked in on me in the shower saw my penis looked different than his and he went to ask dad. so i had to explain. but it was not so bad and dad said he had done the same when he was younger just that none of ue had seen. after then i never got any smegma building up so that was a good result. it was easier to pee.

now i am the father of 2 sets of twin boys the oldest 2 are 13 and the youngest 2 are 9. the older 2 have also kept their skins retracted for at least 4 years now. i asked them if they would consider having the skin removed, both said no they prefer to have a similar look without the pain. now they did have some problems in the early stages. with the skin rolling back to cover the end of the penis. this was wearing boxers when this was happening. i read somewhere that tight fiting underwear would help. both boys love to go swimming and wear speedos to swim, so i made a suggestion to them try wearing their speedos for a week and see if that helped. it did, they still had the roll back problem at night as they wore pyjamas without underwear to sleep and each morning the skin had returned to cover the end. so without me knowing they had started wearing the speedos to sleep. after another week they told me what they had tried and found it to work. so that is what they do now. i can also say it looks better as one of the older boys when he went for a pee was/is too lazy to shake off all the drips of pee, which used to stay in the baggy foreskin he would end up with wet patch on his speedos and sometimes it soaked into his shorts when we were on holidays. with the skin retracted it is not so much of a problem but i suspect he is now haking the drips of more. sometimes they do wear those boardshorts to swim and the skin stays retracted better now but they do prefer the speedos for support.

the younest 2 boys have started wearing their skin in the retracted position at the start of the summer, they saw what their oler brothers looked lke and getting a little more inquisitive they asked their older brothers for advice. then they came running to me asking for speedos. they had always worn boxers as underwear and baggy shorts for swimming. now they have gone for the speedos in a big way and they say the new position for the skin makes them look "bigger", they are two of the biggest show offs i know. but if they like their body and are proud of it then i dont have a problem there.

all four boys have had school medical exams and the nurse has not commented on the boys skin being retracted, maybe they thought they had been circumcised??.

  63. I have 2 sons adopted from other countries who arrived intact. It was their choice to remain so. Auto circ would allow them to mimic or look like circ'd peers if they chose, without the surgery that like a tattoo is rather permanent. I favor the idea that a guy should choose for himself, and if he tires auto circ and doesn't prefer it, he can go back. I offered my boys a circ which they declined. Even now they could look that way if they chose, without the surgery. I am fine that my grandson is intact and the choice will be his, including trying the feel of the look that was not imposed upon him. If he wants! Since a guy who is circ'd still needs a condom, the medical benefits are way overblown. And, being intact is still the "norm" around most of the world.

  64. I'm of Chinese ethnicity but grew up in Indonesia, where the almost all boys are circumcised around puberty. Since my family wasn't Muslim, I never got circumcised. I was greatly embarrassed by my foreskin. As my classmates got circumcised one-by-one, I started to stand out. Our school nurse, who did our yearly health exams, also kept urging me to get circumcised. I actually discovered "auto-circumcision" by myself around age 16. By this time, all the other males, save a few Chinese or foreign-born students were circumcised. I noticed that keeping my foreskin retracted permanently not only helped reduce the smell (and smegma), but also lessened the sensitivity of my glans. I used to ejaculate within about 2 minutes of masturbation before I kept the skin back. Soon afterward, the time more than doubled. I also liked the fact that exposing the glans made my penis look a little larger. Being of Asian descent, I am not well-endowed (about 4.5 inches fully erect). I only see benefits to having a circumcised penis!

  66. As a father of 4 boys all under 14 the youngest being just 8. i found quite early in life the benefits of retracting the foreskin. it is cleaner and i think Looks better. the wife thinks so to. now to my 4 boys. the oldest had a problem with an infection on the head of his penis at the age of about 7. cant remember the name of it but it produced a bad smell and got sticky. the doc gave him cream and tablets. it took almost a month to cure. at the time i read somewhere that keeping the skin retracted would help prevent this type of infection, basically caused buy something getting between the head and the foreskin.. i told my son how to do this and at first he did have problems keeping the skin rolled back. but he kept trying and within a couple of months he was staying rolled back 24/7. one thing that did help was it being summer and he was swimming a lot with me after school so he wore speedos a lot, but he did say that when he changed into boxers after swim the skin was trying to unrol again. so we got him to wear speedos a lot more which were snug fitting, this did keep the skin from unrolling.

all 4 boys share a bedroon so they all saw his penis regular, which sparked questions. so all in turn as soon as they were able started rolling back the skin. the youngest was very young when he started and now none of them have had any infections. and all like the look and the feel of the uncovered head. the youngest was the easiest he wore speedos from before he was dry all day. it helped him not to pee himself during the day with the promise of swimming at night if he stayed dry. and he kept his skin rolled back from 3 or 4.

all have had medical exam and no questions were asked, apart from a smile from the doc at their choice of speedos for underwear. i see no reason for having an operation when this result can be had from an early age.

I always wanted to be circumcised but in our society it is not accepted or discussed among hindus so i remained intact for 23yrs long. One day i woke up in the morning with a hard on and the skin was fully retracted. I thought i should keep it like that. After the erection gone it rolled forward but i pulled it again and put into my underwear. About 2 months or so i kept it that way and finally got the permanent settlement. Now i am moved to another city for work and here in malls movies where the partitions between two urinals are so little that one can see others penis clearly, i see many guys are like me. So now the boys of india wants exposed glans. I have planned to go under circumcision as i have opportunity now. Bare glans is healthy glans.

  72. have been fully retracted for many years, since teens, youthful erections caused skin to retract and trap hairs on return, only solution seem to be trim hair or retract foreskin. I did not fancy a lifetime of cutting pubic hairs so retracting foreskin won out. There was some discomfort at first but it soon passed and eventually skin stayed back. The longer it was back the better it felt so now years later that is the natural position and if I pull it over (not much is covered) it feels totally strange and usually rolls right back.

  73. I just found this article and all the comments yesterday, and read everyone of the comments and found them all very interesting.

The end result of all this reading. Well 60 years on I can still say with great pride I'm still glad Mom & Dad had me circumcised at birth. Growing up, friends, male relatives, classmates were all circumcised. It was the norm then and sad to say now in Canada that does not seem to be the case at least according statistic.

So I have never had to retract a foreskin to remain dry and clean and more visually appealing to look at. I'm glad to no that there appears to be a lot of guys out there that realize that even though they were not circumcised they can keep there penis clean and a lot healthier by retracting and keeping there foreskins retracted all the time.

Personally I still believe that all males should be routinely circumcised at birth but realize that will probably never happen but at least a lot of guys have the good sense to keep there foreskins retracted all the time.

Visually the circumcised penis to me is more attractive and I've never had a lover say to me I wish you had a foreskin.

  75. Here in the UK most males are not circumcised. When I was 18 and went to uni, I had a girlfriend from the US, who had never even seen an uncircumcised cock before mine. I got the feeling that she was not too impressed and she even suggested that I consider getting snipped. At the time, I felt that was a step too far and I wasn't ready for surgery of any kind, let alone down there! So I tried keeping my foreskin retracted whenever I was with her. She appreciated my efforts, but I found it too uncomfortable to be retracted 24/7 - being young, my glans was just too sensitive. The relationship ended after a few months anyway, so I gave up on the idea.

30 years later(!), I read an article on the net about the increasing number of guys who are choosing to permanently retract and I decided to try again. Initially, my intentions were just to be retracted some days and others not - a kind of "best of both worlds".

This time (with some natural reduction in sensitivity, due to my age), I was delighted to find that it was so much easier to remain retracted than when I was 18 (yea!). To start with, I would leave my foreskin retracted after my morning shower, leaving it back all day, and only "covering up" again just before going to bed each night. This worked very well and I didn't experience any more than minor discomfort, which went away after the first week. The only slight difficulty I had to begin with was learning to piss without my foreskin! Soon got used to that though. After a couple of weeks, I was going skinned-back 24/7 and loving it! My wife seemed to like my new look too.

After around four months, the skin of my glans had thickened considerably and my cock looked just as though it was circumcised, the only give-away being the small ring of skin behind my knob.

Now came the difficulty - When I tried wearing my foreskin to cover my glans again, it was positively uncomfortable. I was now no longer producing any lubricating smegma, so being permanently retracted was now my only option. Thankfully, I didn't actually mind no longer having a choice and after some long consideration, worry, and discussion with my wife, I finally decided to take the plunge and got circumcised at a local private clinic. That was three months ago. Thankfully, all has worked out well and both me and my wife are delighted with my new sleek skinless cock. It looks and feels great! I suppose my only regret is that I didn't take Molly's advice and get circumcised when I was 18.

The only caveat I would give guys who are thinking of permanent retraction is that is does cause long term dramatic changes in your knob skin, which may make circumcision inevitable, so think carefully before you go skinned-back for too long.

  76. Uncut and Very Glad to be uncut.

I would never ever consider getting cut. And glad this decision was left up to me. I feel any amount of circumsision would cause pain issues for me.

Getting an erection automatically makes all of my foreskin dissapear. Any less skin to stretch would cause me some serious tightness/discomfort.

Often times my foreskin only covers half to 2/3 of my glans anyways. Unless I go swimming in cold water. In which case it can cover the whole thing and then some.

Never in my life have I experienced having a dirty or smelly penis. Regular showers ensure this.

The first half of my glans shows evidence of the fact that my foreskin does not cover the whole thing. The colour is darker more purple, its dry, and it has wrinkles. This part of my glans does not have much sensitivity at all.

The covered part is much more sensitive, does not have wrinkles, is smoother and a nice healthy pink color.
All of the enjoyment from sex I get from the sensitive part.

It is easy to pull back a foreskin for a couple days straight to achieve a desensitization that makes marathon sex easier without relying on kegals or slowing. Autocircumsision is no joke.
And. It is easy to push it forward again for a couple days to get that sensitivity back. ... i dont know about you, but this kind of control is beneficial for both me and all of the partners I have had now and in the past.

I feel that cutting it iff would also make it permanently desensitized which I would not like at all, and a few of those partners would be uncomfortable with aswell. Not to mention the pain from the stretch of an erectio which may never go away , there would also be a several week period of stiches pain, and guarenteed pain with every erection during that period.

Autocircumsision is like the best thing in the world. Ultimate control, it looks good, feels good. No mutilation or pain involved, no medical bills, no chance of complications on an area of the body so important to us all ..
I really dont appreciate the negative attitudes toward it from people who clearly have no understanding at all on the subject.

Thanks mom and dad for not taking this away from me in a world where these things get taken away.

  80. I was dating my wife for 8 months before she realized I wasn't circumcised. When my cock is out of my pants my foreskin is always pulled back.

  81. I have a foreskin and I have kept it retracted 24/7 for about ten years...I have a good size head on my penis so my foreskin stays in place behind it...I started permanent retraction because I found the head of my penis was way to sensitive to touch...at first I used the aid of a silicone ring but I don't need one now to keep it in place...I'm seeing a doctor soon for a circumcision as my mind is made up that I want the job done permanent...I'm glad I wasn't circumcised at birth and I'm able to make the choice for myself having experienced an intact penis, my sons have not been circumcised...the head of my penis has been exposed for so long now that I hate the feeling of it covered...convincing my wife was the hardest part, now that she has seen it always retracted she says it's my decision, but when I first mentioned it many years ago she was mad at me for even thinking about it...I'll tick it off the bucket list this year and be done with it.
